Monero Price Prediction: XMR Rises 3% as Peter Brandt Calls It His Favorite Altcoin Chart

Key takeaways Peter Brandt favors Monero over several altcoin charts XMR rebounds toward $550 after recent market volatility Traders watch $565 resistance before potential $600 recovery Monero (XMR) is trading near $550 on October 14 following a strong rebound in the previous session, as veteran trader Peter Brandt's recent endorsement of its technical chart draws renewed attention to the privacy-focused cryptocurrency. XMR gained approximately 4% on October 13 after falling toward $520, recovering much of its recent losses. The rebound comes days after Brandt identified Monero as his preferred chart among several major altcoins, including XRP, Solana and Ethereum.
However, whether XMR can extend its recovery toward $600 will depend on overcoming several nearby resistance levels. Peter Brandt Calls Monero His Favorite Altcoin Chart In an October 6 post on X, Brandt compared technical setups across several cryptocurrencies and highlighted Monero's relatively favorable price structure. ”Of these, my favorite by far is XMR,” Brandt wrote, explaining that his preference reflected historical price behavior rather than the cryptocurrency's underlying technology.
His central argument concerned overhead supply, which represents potential selling pressure from investors who bought an asset at higher prices and may exit when it recovers. Brandt argued that Monero had already absorbed much of this supply, leaving fewer obvious technical obstacles than XRP. The distinction matters because a cryptocurrency can exhibit a bullish formation while still facing substantial resistance from previously trapped buyers.
However, Brandt did not provide a specific new XMR price target in the comparison, nor did he confirm that he had opened a Monero position. His comments therefore represent a technical preference rather than a guaranteed forecast. Monero Price Rebounds After Falling Toward $520 Monero's latest recovery follows a volatile trading period.
Historical XMR/USD market data show that the cryptocurrency fell from approximately $554 on October 7 to around $519 on October 9, before rebounding to nearly $549 on October 13. The October 13 session was particularly significant, with XMR trading between roughly $519 and $550 before closing near the upper end of that range. This movement follows the sharp Monero selloff in September, when XMR experienced substantial volatility after an earlier privacy-coin rally.
Although the latest recovery supports improving short-term momentum, it has not yet established a sustained breakout above the cryptocurrency's early-October trading range. Monero's earlier breakout above $600 in January also illustrates how rapidly the asset can move when technical resistance gives way. Monero Price Prediction: Can XMR Reach $600?
With Monero trading around $550, the immediate upside challenge is the $560–$565 region, where XMR encountered resistance earlier in October. A sustained move above $565 could bring the $580–$600 range into focus. Reaching $600 would require approximately 9.
1% upside from the current reference price. Beyond that level, the September high near $630 represents a more ambitious technical objective, requiring roughly 14. 5% appreciation.
However, failure to hold $540 could expose the $525–$520 support region, followed by the psychologically important $500 level. These levels are conditional scenarios rather than targets issued by Brandt. Privacy Demand Could Support Monero, but Risks Remain Monero's investment narrative differs from that of many larger cryptocurrencies because its blockchain is designed to conceal transaction amounts and participant information by default.
According to Monero's official documentation, the network uses ring signatures, stealth addresses and confidential transactions to provide financial privacy. Its supply model also includes ongoing mining rewards rather than Bitcoin-style periodic halvings, an important distinction explored in Coinpaper's Monero supply analysis. Nevertheless, regulatory restrictions and limited exchange access can reduce liquidity and magnify price volatility.
