How the Newport Exchange API works: what data it serves, where that data comes from, how often it updates and how to make your first request.
NEXAPI is the REST API behind Newport Exchange. It returns the same data you see on this site as JSON: market listings for the top 100 cryptocurrencies, single-coin details, daily price history and aggregated crypto news.
Quick Start
Bitcoin's current listing
# Get Bitcoin price, market cap and volume
curl
"https://api.newportexchange.org/v2/crypto/BTC"
Full endpoint reference, parameters and response shapes are in the API docs.
A focused data set for the largest coins, kept current on a published schedule.
Price, market cap, 24h volume, supply and 1h/24h/7d change for the 100 largest cryptocurrencies, refreshed from CoinMarketCap every 30 minutes.
Daily open, high, low, close and volume candles, finalised once a day, backfilled up to a year and retained for up to two years.
Headlines from established crypto publishers, collected twice a day, with summaries, publication times and links to the original reporting.
Read-only HTTPS endpoints that return JSON. Any language with an HTTP client works — there is no SDK to install.
Market data endpoints are public and rate limited per IP. Endpoints that need an API key say so in the API docs.
Nothing is streamed: data changes on a schedule, so polling more often than every few minutes returns the same values.
Straight answers about the data.
