Bitcoin Price Prediction: BTC Falls Below $81K Amid Liquidations

Key takeaways Bitcoin briefly dropped below $81,000 before recovering Crypto liquidations reached $771 million, predominantly leveraged longs Analysts identify $80,000–$82,000 as critical Bitcoin support Bitcoin briefly fell below $81,000 overnight on October 13 before recovering toward $83,200, as a wave of forced liquidations swept through cryptocurrency markets ahead of Wednesday's U. S. inflation report.
Binance recorded a 24-hour low of $80,962. 52, while other trading venues reported slightly higher lows. Bitcoin subsequently rebounded above $83,000, but the recovery followed a sharp liquidation event that exposed the market's vulnerability to leveraged selling.
Bitcoin Price Drops as $771 Million in Crypto Positions Are Liquidated The cryptocurrency liquidations reached approximately $771 million over 24 hours, including $685. 6 million in long positions. Long positions accounted for nearly 89% of liquidations, suggesting that traders positioned for rising prices bore most of the damage.
Bitcoin traded near $84,200 before falling to $81,382 late Monday, subsequently testing the $81,000 region. Ethereum, Solana and XRP also declined as leveraged positions were closed across multiple exchanges. Dominick John, an analyst at Zeus Research, attributed Bitcoin's weakness to macroeconomic headwinds, cooling institutional demand and defensive positioning before U.
S. inflation data. The latest decline follows last week's Bitcoin ETF withdrawals, when U.
S. spot funds lost approximately $681 million, their largest weekly outflow since late June. Bitcoin Price Prediction: Can $80,000 Hold?
The latest sell-off puts the $80,000–$82,000 support region back into focus. In an October 8 analysis, Glassnode identified substantial Bitcoin buy orders around $81,000, suggesting potential demand near the level tested overnight. Meanwhile, FxPro previously warned that losing $83,000 could expose Bitcoin to a decline toward $80,000, particularly if selling accelerates.
The analysis aligns with QCP Capital's outlook, which identified $80,000-$82,000 as a potential buying zone rather than necessarily the beginning of a deeper correction. A renewed break below $81,000 would therefore put the psychological $80,000 level under scrutiny. Conversely, reclaiming $84,000 could signal that overnight liquidations have exhausted immediate selling pressure.
