Strategy: The Binance Hack Was A Red Herring, Reiterating Strong Buy

Summary Strategy Inc. is rated a Strong Buy, with the current pullback seen as a prime accumulation opportunity amid early BTC bull market momentum. MSTR's Q3 earnings featured $44.

75 diluted EPS, driven by a $20. 91B Bitcoin valuation gain, and liquidity now covers 3. 4 years of interest and preferred dividends.

Recent negative sentiment from the Binance hack is viewed as a red herring, as MSTR's Bitcoin custody is diversified and unaffected by Binance's security breach. Long-term risks from quantum computing and AI are acknowledged, but current BTC security is robust; MSTR's upside is tied to BTC appreciation, with potential for $1,000+ per share in a strong bull case. Since my last Strategy Inc.

(MSTR) analysis, the stock has lost 8% in price. I continue to view the current period as a strong accumulation zone for Bitcoin (BTC-USD) and its related equities. The primary focus of this analysis will be the red herring of the Binance hack, which I believe distorted the realities of crypto and blockchain's security with scary headlines.

Remember, the blockchain wasn't hacked; Binance's exchange was. There is a crucial difference. First things first, though.

Strategy just released earnings, and it would be remiss not to discuss the company's latest developments here. Strategy: Q3 2026 On October 29, Strategy reported $44. 75 in diluted EPS, which was dominated by a $20.

91B Bitcoin valuation gain. Even so, MSTR fell about 8% in price on October 30 due to the Binance hack causing negative sentiment for crypto broadly. As a result, the decline shouldn't be attributed to the company's operating performance, which is another reason I think this is a good moment early in the BTC bull market to accumulate more MSTR if you are so inclined.

Due to the recent sales of Bitcoin and common-stock issuance, the company's liquidity improved, with $5. 07B of dollar assets at October 25, which is very strong, covering 3. 4 years of annualized interest and preferred dividends.

Note that this number excludes debt principal. The tradeoff of this higher dollar amount is a lower BTC per diluted share, which has fallen 3. 7% year-to-date.

The key risk is the company being able to maintain strong Bitcoin exposure per share, preferably increasing steadily, while financing heavy preferred dividends. This becomes especially difficult in a bear market but should return to normalcy and strength as this next bull market matures. In Q3, the company raised $5.

41B in new shares, while preferred dividends were $419. 6M. The Red Herring The same day as Strategy's earnings report, Binance reported an approximately $6.

3B hack. This was a compromised exchange withdrawal infrastructure; it was not a break in Bitcoin's cryptography. Binance also reported zero evidence of leaked wallet private keys.

For these reasons, I consider this a red herring and an accumulation opportunity as a result. Thankfully, Strategy's disclosed Bitcoin custody allocation was Coinbase (COIN) at 41. 5%, Anchorage at 38.

6%, and Fidelity at 19. 9%, as of July 24. Binance was not amongst the custody cohort, limiting sentiment spillover to MSTR equity, though it was still present (even with no meritocratic fault from Strategy).

Again, this dissociation from fact and sentiment is why I consider the pullback in MSTR a buying opportunity if one did not manage to accumulate their full position below or around $100 per share. Author's Chart That said, there are reasonable reasons for a little BTC turbulence. Withdrawal freezes, forced selling, and weaker confidence can spread losses to BTC holders who have secure wallets.

To give this more color, a trading firm with funds trapped at an exchange may sell accessible BTC elsewhere to meet payments; meanwhile, falling prices can reduce collateral values, triggering margin calls and liquidation of leveraged holdings; as a result, it's fair for some weakened demand for a while, though the turbulence most likely settles out once news of the event and its tangibilities calm down. By November 2, Binance has already replenished about 95% of affected assets, and it has said it will absorb all customer losses. Real Long-Term Security Risks, And Why Time Is On The Bulls' Side The real risk for Bitcoin sentiment long-term, which thus also affects Strategy stock, is primarily quantum computing, alongside AI risk, but neither is yet at the point of breaking the complex cryptography behind Bitcoin.

It's a fair rebuttal for the Bitcoin bulls that in 2026 a peer-reviewed study estimated that less than 500,000 physical superconducting qubits could attack Bitcoin's mathematics in minutes under certain assumptions, but I would keep in mind that this is a modelled requirement. No publicly demonstrated quantum computer can execute this model against Bitcoin's full-strength cryptography today. NIST estimates in the worst case that the capabilities are a few years away, so the current BTC bull cycle looks secure.

But realistically, it's probably 10+ years, if not decades, because major engineering challenges are unresolved. Saying that BTC will definitely be hacked is speculative. And while people are saying that AI could crack BTC's cryptography, I think this is a bit far-fetched.

Especially when we realize that AI can help discover mathematical security flaws, too. There's concern that AI could uncover weaknesses in its cryptography or software before developers can fix them, but just look at Bitcoin Core, which recently patched an AI-discovered software vulnerability before attackers could exploit it. There's an accelerating contest between attackers and defenders, I admit, but too many people have a stake in BTC to just let this slide.

In other words, more money is definitely going into BTC's security processes than is going into illegal disruption of existing security processes, in my estimation. The core of the current security environment for BTC is that the community has time. That doesn't mean the community should adopt complacency; I think it would be wise for Strategy's management to spend some resources on funding independent research and require tested custody migration plans.

Time really only favors the bulls here if defenses outpace attacks and the community is prepared. No one wants to rush and tamper with things unnecessarily, but time gives us the luxury to research as a precaution and plan if needed for minor changes for quantum and AI resistance. Upside Potential Bitcoin is speculative exposure, so I will refrain from the traditional valuation measures for MSTR and look solely at the charts and use my rationale for why the stock is likely to appreciate significantly in the years ahead.

Author's Chart The ideal will be Bitcoin at $180k in a few years. That's the bull case, and we would likely see MSTR at a peak price of over $1,000 per share if it achieves an mNAV of over 3x. Strategy has 849,327 BTC, which would be worth $152.

879B, implying about $961 per MSTR share at 3x net mNAV or $1,032 at 3. 2x. The company may increase holdings of BTC over the coming months and years, making the stock price higher than assumed at its present BTC balance if BTC appreciation continues.

My calculation is thus conservative if the bull case materializes. On the other hand, my risk tolerance is the understanding that the speculative nature of BTC means that the tail risk outcome is total loss of invested capital. I believe any investor in BTC or a BTC treasury needs to accept total-loss risk and weigh the investments accordingly in order to sleep well at night.

That helps in volatility tolerance and allows you to accept a suitable weight for the potential elite upside reward. For most people, 5% of NAV is likely good for crypto exposure, but for the bold, like me, 10% suits us. Conclusion: Strong Buy MSTR is one of my favorite equities on the market.

And believe it or not, I'm one of the hardest hardcore value investors. I guess we all need a vice, and crypto is my investment vice. It also gives me my highest returns, go figure.

Sometimes you have to learn how to play with fire to really be one of the greatest, and I intend to be one of the greatest. The rest of my portfolio is 55% in value equities (and I mean real value equities predominantly, not speculative value; I do DCF's and discounted earnings like a religion). 35% is in cash and short-term Treasuries.

Call me old school, but I'm a survivor first and a thriver after that. First things first. In my book, MSTR is a Strong Buy.

For very conservative investors, 4% of NAV in MSTR and 1% of NAV in Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR) is a really strong torque addition to an otherwise conservative equity book. For those who are in the game of mastery, I like the fuller 80/20 approach. 80% MSTR, 20% PURR, at 8% of NAV and 2% of NAV, respectively.

Keep following my work if you want to hear more about PURR, the crypto stock I'm most excited about right now.
