Ripple Prime Joins BlackRock and JPMorgan in DTCC's 50-Firm Tokenization Push, but XRP Role Remains Unclear

Key takeaways Ripple Prime participates in DTCC's institutional tokenization working group BlackRock and JPMorgan joined successful securities-tokenization production trials DTCC has not confirmed XRP Ledger settlement integration Ripple Prime is among more than 50 financial companies collaborating with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) on tokenized securities infrastructure, placing Ripple's institutional brokerage business alongside BlackRock, JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. The initiative aims to bring traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks while preserving existing ownership rights and investor protections. However, Ripple Prime's participation does not establish that DTCC will use XRP or the XRP Ledger for settlement.

According to DTCC's official announcement, the working group was disclosed in May, with production transactions completed in July and broader service availability targeted for the fourth quarter. Ripple Prime Joins Wall Street's Tokenization Infrastructure DTCC's working group includes banks, asset managers, custodians, exchanges and blockchain technology providers. Participants include BlackRock, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Circle, Robinhood and Ripple Prime.

Their collaboration focuses on the operational requirements for tokenized equities, exchange-traded funds and U. S. government securities.

The initiative builds on Ripple Prime's existing clearing relationships, developed after Ripple acquired institutional brokerage Hidden Road for $1. 25 billion. DTCC's subsidiary, the Depository Trust Company, provides custody and asset servicing for more than $114 trillion in securities.

That figure represents assets held within existing financial infrastructure, not securities already transferred onto blockchains. The broader tokenization initiative seeks to make those traditional assets usable within digital markets without removing established legal protections. DTCC Tests Real Securities on Blockchain Networks On July 15, DTCC announced successful production transactions involving tokenized U.

S. Treasuries, equities and other financial instruments. More than 30 organizations participated in transactions covering securities lending, collateral transfers, repurchase agreements and equity settlement.

The transactions used the Canton Network and LFDT's Besu infrastructure, according to DTCC's production-trading announcement. This creates an important distinction for Ripple investors: participation in the institutional rollout does not mean Ripple Prime executed the July transactions or that XRP was used. DTCC has separately identified Stellar as a prospective public-blockchain connection, with tokenized assets expected to become available during the first half of 2027.

The Stellar integration illustrates DTCC's multichain approach rather than exclusive reliance on a single blockchain.
