Investor Taunts Ripple CEO: I Got XRP At 26 and Am Now 38…

Crypto enthusiast Emily has renewed her criticism of XRP adoption after Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse revealed that Ripple Treasury processed $13 trillion in payment transactions during 2025, with almost all that activity taking place outside cryptocurrency payment networks. In her tweet, she used Garlinghouse’s remarks at Ripple Swell to defend her position on XRP’s real-world utility. She recalled purchasing XRP when she was 26 and noted that she is now 38.

Despite holding the cryptocurrency for years, she complained that XRP still trades around $1 and continues to follow Bitcoin’s price movements. She also criticized members of the XRP community who previously dismissed her concerns about the cryptocurrency’s adoption. Emily maintained that she had questioned XRP’s actual usage before Garlinghouse addressed the subject publicly.

I got XRP at 26 and am now 38; it still at a dollar, still following Bitcoin. Brad stated directly in your face at Swell, “we are trying to find ways to use XRP. ” I told these people it was not being used.

Yet some prefer to be tards and get mad at the truth. BRAD explicitly… — Emily (@Emilyaaqt) November 5, 2026 What Garlinghouse Reveals About Ripple Treasury Payment During his appearance at Ripple Swell, Garlinghouse discussed Ripple Treasury’s performance and the opportunities its customer base could create for blockchain-based payments. The Ripple CEO revealed that the business handled approximately $13 trillion in payment transactions during 2025.

However, he explained that virtually 99. 9% of those transactions did not involve cryptocurrency payment networks or stablecoins. Garlinghouse repeated this figure while explaining the scale of the opportunity available to Ripple.

Although Ripple Treasury already handles substantial payment activity, most of its transactions still rely on traditional financial infrastructure rather than blockchain-based payment systems. He described the existing customer base as a captive audience that Ripple could potentially move onto blockchain networks. Emily cited this admission to support her earlier criticism.

She argued that people had accused her of spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt whenever she questioned the extent of XRP’s adoption. Ripple Wants to Expand XRP Liquidity and Utility Garlinghouse also connected Ripple’s business expansion and acquisitions to the company’s objectives for XRP. He identified three priorities: increasing XRP liquidity, expanding its utility, and building greater trust in the cryptocurrency.

His remarks suggest that Ripple wants to use its existing business relationships to introduce more customers to blockchain-based financial services. Ripple Treasury already serves businesses that process significant payment volumes, giving the company an opportunity to introduce additional payment options. However, the $13 trillion figure does not represent XRP transaction volume.

Garlinghouse explicitly stated that approximately 99. 9% of those payments did not touch cryptocurrency payment networks or stablecoins. XRP Adoption Remains a Key Question Emily’s criticism centers on the difference between Ripple’s growing payment business and XRP’s actual usage.

Although Ripple Treasury processes substantial payment volumes, those figures do not automatically translate into demand for XRP. Garlinghouse’s comments also show that Ripple intends to increase XRP’s role in its expanding financial ecosystem. His emphasis on liquidity, utility, and trust indicates that the company still sees room to expand the cryptocurrency’s applications.

For XRP holders, the challenge lies in seeing more of Ripple’s payment activity translate into transactions that actually use XRP. Until that happens, the distinction between Ripple’s business growth and XRP adoption will remain important.
